Radionor Communications has moved from a specialist Norwegian radio developer into a much larger manufacturing business. Its July 2026 financial announcement reports US$258.5 million of revenue for 2025, while its June announcement records the opening of a production facility in Selbu. A UK public-procurement listing and a named Rohde & Schwarz supply relationship show two different ways its equipment reaches customers.

Those records make Radionor relevant to platform manufacturers, communications integrators and businesses following Nordic production capacity. The commercial story is about a component and systems supplier whose products can enter several downstream programmes. Understanding that position is more useful than assuming that every government programme involving communications represents a direct Radionor customer.

A Norwegian company with a verifiable operating identity

The Norwegian company register identifies Radionor Communications AS under organisation number 882136752, incorporated in June 2000 and based at Travbanevegen 2 in Trondheim. Its registered activity concerns communications equipment and positioning technology. The current public record shows 78 registered employees, with the employee-register update dated August 2026. Radionor's corporate description places radio-frequency engineering, antenna design and software development within the same business. This combination matters when an equipment manufacturer assesses a supplier relationship. A radio purchase can involve hardware availability, software maintenance and application support over different time periods. The supplier's ability to keep those functions coordinated is commercially relevant even when the first transaction is a relatively small development order.

The public register establishes the legal entity; it does not provide a complete current shareholder-percentage table in the record reviewed here. Radionor is treated as a privately held company, with no controlling investor inferred from its industrial partners. NORBIT's manufacturing relationship and Rohde & Schwarz's customer relationship should therefore be mapped separately from ownership.

The financial figures come from Radionor's 28 July 2026 announcement. It presents its results in US dollars and says most profit was retained for development, recruitment and production expansion. The release does not explain the currency-conversion methodology, so its published dollar figures should be retained as attributed disclosures rather than converted back into supposedly exact Norwegian statutory amounts. 2025 financial results

For commercial analysis, a strong reported result can support a manufacturer's ability to fund expansion internally. It still leaves questions about the timing of cash requirements, product concentration and future customer demand. Those questions require information about the proposed relationship, rather than a conclusion drawn from revenue alone.

The registered workforce figure is also narrower than the full industrial effort behind production. Employees of a manufacturing partner belong to that partner's organisation. Dividing Radionor's reported sales by its own registered headcount would produce a striking ratio, but would not establish how much engineering, assembly and supply-chain work the wider production network contributes.

Selbu makes the production network visible

Radionor announced the opening of its Selbu facility on 26 June 2026, describing an opening event the previous day. It explicitly named NORBIT as a strategic partner and supplier, and credited the municipality's role in enabling the investment. This is a more concrete industrial milestone than a general intention to hire. It places manufacturing expansion at a named location and identifies an external production relationship. The next commercial evidence would be how that capacity translates into delivery schedules, repeat production and support for additional customers.

A prospective component supplier should interpret the arrangement before choosing whom to approach. Some purchasing decisions may sit with Radionor's product organisation, while others may be part of an existing manufacturing arrangement. The public announcement does not assign every buying responsibility, but it gives the supplier a specific relationship to investigate.

Consider a hypothetical electronics-testing business seeking work around a new production programme. Its strongest proposition would address an identified manufacturing need, such as repeatable inspection records or production traceability, with a clear statement of which organisation receives the service. A generic promise to support defense growth says much less about where the business could fit.

The catalogue spans components and platform-specific products

Radionor's current directory includes the I-BEAM family, MICRO and the REDBOX accessory. It presents different product forms for portable applications, vessels, aircraft and unmanned platforms. This product segmentation is useful commercially because a platform manufacturer may need a component relationship, while another customer may buy a more complete communications arrangement. The distinction affects the division of work around the equipment. A manufacturer incorporating a radio into its own product may retain responsibility for the overall customer proposal and support package. A systems integrator may instead coordinate several suppliers and manage acceptance of the resulting system. Radionor's presence in both components and systems categories makes that division worth establishing early.

A joint December 2019 release states that Rohde & Schwarz awarded Radionor a supply contract for long-range communications equipment. The sequence illustrates how a specialist supplier can enter a larger technology company's offering. The early relationship can involve evaluation and technical exchange; the later agreement defines an actual supply role. For another supplier studying the same route, the useful question is which evidence enabled that transition and how repeat deliveries are managed afterwards.

Because the announcement is historical, it should support the record of the relationship without being counted as a newly won 2026 contract. An updated order, extended product selection or customer-confirmed delivery would provide a separate, later milestone.

The UK listing adds a direct procurement route

The UK Government Commercial Agency's supplier directory lists Radionor on Tactical Communication Systems agreement RM6393 in Lot 2, Systems, and Lot 3, Components. That independently corroborates the company's July framework announcement.
