Adarga: research software and public-sector customer evidence
Adarga has expanded from Vantage research tools into a three-layer AI offering, with public MOD work and corporate filings providing separate evidence of its business.
Adarga develops software for organisations that need to make sense of large amounts of information. Its public offer now goes beyond Vantage, the research and investigations product associated with the company in earlier announcements. In 2026 Adarga introduced a broader platform spanning applications, data integration and the computing environment needed to run them. That change matters commercially because the scope of a customer purchase can extend beyond individual analyst software.
The London-based business is led by founder and chief executive Rob Bassett Cross. Its current company history dates the operating story to an NLP laboratory established in 2016, followed by the Adarga Knowledge Platform in 2019 and Vantage in 2023. Companies House records the underlying private limited company, Adarga Limited, as incorporated on 21 August 2015. The legal incorporation date and the company's account of its product origins describe different milestones.
Ownership and the business being profiled
The register of persons with significant control identifies Charles Edward Dickson as holding more than 25% but not more than 50% of both shares and voting rights, with notification dated 10 October 2025. This is a useful current disclosure. It does not provide a complete ownership table or mean that one person owns the whole company.
Adarga's current website identifies Adarga Limited in the UK and Adarga Government Inc in the United States. It lists London and Herndon, Virginia, locations. The operating headquarters should therefore be distinguished from the Hampshire registered office shown in statutory records.
For readers considering a commercial relationship, these distinctions identify the actual organisation behind the brand. A UK customer programme, a US office and a shareholder disclosure are separate pieces of evidence; none should be used as a shortcut to inventing a parent company or a complete international revenue split.
What the three-layer offering changes
Adarga's current catalogue organises its technology around Mission, Catalyst and Keystone. Mission is the layer containing customer applications, tools and interfaces. Catalyst brings data together for those applications. Keystone concerns deployment infrastructure and the computing environment supporting the software.
That structure is commercially different from describing Adarga solely as a tool for searching documents. A customer could be assessing a specific application, the data platform beneath it or a broader deployment package. The relevant competitor set and implementation responsibility will depend on which of those is being purchased.
The 20 July 2026 announcement explains the company's intention to let customers retain control of the information structures built on Catalyst. It describes modular integration and the ability to connect the resulting information to other systems. These are vendor commitments about product design, rather than independent proof that every customer's migration would be effortless.
The history of Knowledge Platform, Vantage and the new stack also raises a product-continuity question for existing buyers. A new umbrella offering does not, by itself, establish that older licences have ended or that every customer has migrated. The current MOD case study still names both the earlier platform and Vantage, making that continuity relevant to understanding Adarga's installed relationships.
The practical implication is that data ownership belongs in the commercial scope from the start. For an organisation building a continuing research capability, the durable asset may include its accumulated information and relationships between records, not just the latest generated answer. Adarga's architecture makes that issue part of the product proposition.
Mission Agents adds another layer of work
On 21 August 2026, Adarga announced its Mission Agents Framework. The company described software agents running on Catalyst, with identity controls, governed access to tools and information, logging and points for human approval. Those features are presented as part of the framework, not as a separately issued assurance certificate.
For an enterprise customer, the business question is what unit of work is being delegated. Searching for information, preparing an assessment and taking an action can impose different approval and support requirements. The framework announcement signals a move toward defined workflows rather than treating a conversational interface as the whole purchase.
It also makes configuration and continuing support commercially significant. An agent connected to an organisation's information depends on permissions and process design that may change after installation. The resulting work could involve both product access and implementation services; the public announcement does not disclose their revenue proportions.
The MOD record has a defined contract boundary
An official Find a Tender award notice published on 8 January 2025 identifies Adarga EA Lite as an agreement for AI solutions for research and development, with a maximum value of £12 million. Adarga's 10 January announcement describes access to its products and services and includes a statement from Defence Digital's commercial director.
The maximum is the important qualifier. It identifies the scale permitted by the agreement, not a published statement of annual turnover or proof that the whole amount has been spent. The record is still meaningful customer evidence: it concerns a named supplier, buyer and purchase purpose.
Adarga's current defence case study describes three uses delivered under EA Lite, including supply-chain analysis and strategic risk management. It says its platform and Vantage were deployed on MOD-hosted infrastructure. These are the supplier's descriptions of delivery, and the page does not disclose a complete set of acceptance records or user counts.
Together, the award and case study explain how the relationship is presented to the market. The agreement creates a purchasing route; the supplier account describes work undertaken through it. Following the relationship requires both perspectives.
What the accounts add
The filed accounts for the period ended 30 December 2024, approved on 30 September 2025, report an average monthly workforce of 110 people including directors, compared with 121 in the preceding period. This is a historical average for Adarga Limited, not its September 2026 workforce.
The accounts also disclose a subsequent restructuring that reduced employee costs. Their going-concern discussion describes additional equity funding, loan conversion and a revolving credit facility in 2025. Management concluded that preparation on a going-concern basis was appropriate. The filed version omits the profit-and-loss account, so it does not establish annual turnover for the directory.
This is useful context for the broader product strategy. The company has been developing its offer while also changing its cost base and funding arrangements. A prospective customer can understand that history without treating older staffing figures as current or assuming that a maximum contract value resolves every question about the business.
Research priorities and commercial comparisons
Adarga's July 2026 research agenda identifies AI assurance and the maintenance of reliable, evolving knowledge as two priorities. Its discussion recognises that sources can disagree and that information can become stale. Those points are directly relevant to research software: an answer's usefulness depends on the evidence behind it and when that evidence was valid.
The agenda is a statement of research direction. It is more informative to follow subsequent published work and customer evidence than to interpret the agenda itself as a completed product validation.
The Ripjar profile and Vannevar Labs profile provide neighbouring perspectives on information analysis businesses. They help frame comparison around the customer problem, supplied software and implementation relationship, rather than around the shared use of the term AI.
Adarga's defining commercial question is now broader than whether Vantage helps an analyst search. It is whether the expanded platform can become a durable part of an organisation's information workflow, with an identifiable division of responsibility and evidence of continuing use. The MOD record, current product announcements and statutory disclosures provide distinct ways to follow that question.

Company pages and Companies House records were readable; the About page and filed iXBRL accounts were read through ordinary unauthenticated HTTP after text-reader failures. The FTS award PDF returned 403 directly; its public indexed official text verified the notice date, R&D description and maximum value, supported by the issuer announcement. Accounts provide 110 average employees for the period ended 30 December 2024, not current headcount, and omit the profit-and-loss account. Deployment and product capability claims are attributed to Adarga.
