Unseenlabs supplies RF data and analysis from space. Its public history describes a maritime starting point and a 2026 move toward broader applications.
Unseenlabs is a French space-based radio-frequency data company with a maritime business and an expanding satellite programme. It sells information derived from its collection infrastructure, rather than satellites to every information customer. Its public offering spans datasets, analytical work and reports, placing it between space hardware, geospatial intelligence and maritime business information.
The company’s recent development has two distinct sides. On the infrastructure side, it has continued launching satellites and introduced a second-generation spacecraft in 2026. An information product rather than a satellite photograph
Unseenlabs’ service description identifies RF data, data-fusion services and intelligence reports as different customer deliverables. Its maritime offering concerns information associated with radio-frequency emissions, which is a different collection category from conventional optical imagery.

On 27 February 2024, Unseenlabs announced the closing of an €85 million financing round. Named investors included Supernova Invest, ISALT and UNEXO, alongside existing investors. The release connected the capital with satellite expansion, product development and growth in international and private-sector markets.
The dated round gives a concrete financing reference. It does not reveal present ownership percentages or the revenue generated by each market. Company pages use inconsistent cumulative fundraising totals, so the individual announced round is the clearer figure to retain.
For commercial readers, the financing explains resources available for expansion rather than customer purchasing. The subsequent evidence to follow is how that expansion appears in products, distribution relationships and repeat use. A constellation business can spend capital on infrastructure before the associated information services produce a mature revenue stream.
S&P Global offers a route into established workflows
On 9 December 2025, Unseenlabs announced a collaboration with S&P Global for integration and use of its maritime RF data. The release describes the relationship as combining Unseenlabs’ collection with S&P Global’s information services.
That is commercially significant because it creates a route to users who already work within an established information provider’s products. An RF company does not necessarily have to build every downstream analytical interface or sell directly to every final user.
The public announcement does not disclose pricing, exclusivity or the allocation of customer revenue. It nevertheless identifies a specific data-distribution relationship, which is more useful than a broad list of potential industries.
For a reader comparing information businesses, the key distinction is between owning collection infrastructure and owning the final customer workflow. A company may do both, or reach some users through partners. The S&P relationship shows why distribution should be part of Unseenlabs’ profile alongside spacecraft development. A later product release or customer case would clarify how the data is incorporated into the resulting service.
A European institutional channel
Unseenlabs announced selection for Copernicus Contributing Missions Category 1 on 25 June 2025. Its account describes RF information as a complement to other Earth-observation data within the European programme.
The selection is a named institutional relationship, but the company’s announcement does not disclose a complete contract value or universal access rights for all users. It should therefore be described at the programme stage actually published.
Commercially, institutional data channels and private information partnerships serve different purposes. One can connect a supplier with public Earth-observation requirements; another can bring its information into commercial analytical products. Together, they indicate that the company’s potential market is broader than a single government buyer.
They also suggest different evidence to follow. A programme selection can be followed by published service scope and data availability. Japan is part of the infrastructure relationship
Space BD’s 1 April 2026 announcement records a memorandum with Unseenlabs intended to secure and diversify launch access in Japan. The partner described an existing relationship supporting Unseenlabs satellite launches.
This is an upstream commercial relationship: Unseenlabs is obtaining access to space services, rather than selling RF data to Space BD under the disclosed memorandum. The direction matters when building a customer and supplier map.
Space BD subsequently reported completion of launch integration support for the H3 mission on 12 June 2026. Unseenlabs’ own chronology identifies BRO-22 on that launch. The partner-side completion statement adds substance beyond the earlier memorandum, while its scope concerns launch support rather than the quality of Unseenlabs’ later information products.
For a constellation operator, diversified launch access can be relevant to scheduling and infrastructure renewal. The public evidence establishes a relationship and a completed launch-support milestone; it does not disclose a guaranteed future schedule or the economics of every launch booking.
The second generation and commercial readiness
The Unseenlabs launch chronology records BRO-1 on 19 August 2019, BRO-22 on 12 June 2026 and BRO-31 on 7 July 2026. It identifies BRO-31 as the first second-generation satellite. The company history connects that generation with planned applications beyond maritime information.
A launch is a meaningful infrastructure milestone, but the customer-facing transition depends on the availability of a usable service. A broader collection capability needs associated data products, support and a clear explanation of what customers receive. Those are commercial development steps, rather than automatic consequences of a spacecraft reaching orbit.
The comparison with Saildrone is useful at this level. The collection platforms differ, but both businesses need to connect specialised infrastructure with a deliverable that a customer can use. The value proposition lies in that connection, rather than in the platform alone.
An August 2026 company interview describes business-development activity in Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region. That provides a concrete organisational sign of international expansion without implying an undisclosed regional contract.
For an information partner, the relevant commercial discussion concerns the dataset or analytical service being integrated and the rights attached to the resulting product. For a spacecraft supplier, it concerns a different set of deliverables. Keeping those two relationships separate makes the company’s expansion easier to understand and avoids treating all named partners as data customers.
Unseenlabs’ distinguishing position combines proprietary collection, analytical services and partnerships with established information and space organisations. The strongest follow-up will link the new satellite generation with named products and customer use. Public sources support the dated relationships and launch history; they leave full ownership, complete customer terms and independently measured service performance undisclosed.
