Reflex Aerospace: satellite manufacturing and customer-specific missions
The German spacecraft manufacturer builds around customer payloads. Its mission portfolio spans an orbiting demonstrator, contracted platforms and future partnership programmes.
Reflex Aerospace occupies the manufacturing layer between a satellite payload owner and a complete space mission. The German company builds spacecraft around customer requirements, while specialist partners provide instruments and downstream businesses sell the resulting information. For an Earth observation company, that creates a route to owning satellite infrastructure without assembling an entire spacecraft engineering organisation.
Its public portfolio needs to be read mission by mission. One satellite has a recorded launch, other platforms have named manufacturing customers, and several strategic partnerships concern future systems. Those are different stages of business maturity. The useful commercial question is which part of a proposed mission Reflex has already delivered, and which part depends on a customer's payload, financing or operating arrangements.
Company identity, investors and workforce
The legal operator is REFLEX aerospace GmbH. Its imprint identifies Walter Ballheimer as chief executive, a Berlin contact address and Munich commercial register number HRB 267113. The business combines a Berlin design centre with manufacturing in Munich. A buyer can therefore distinguish the contracting entity from the locations performing engineering and assembly.
On 4 November 2025, Reflex announced the closing of a €50 million Series A. Human Element led the round, with Alpine Space Ventures, Bayern Kapital, HTGF and other investors participating. The stated uses included manufacturing expansion in Bavaria and development of its satellite architecture. This is evidence of financing secured for expansion, rather than annual sales or an order book.
Reflex remains a privately held company in these records. They do not provide a complete ownership table or annual turnover. Its public FAQ reports 129 employees as of May 2026, a more precisely dated snapshot than the lower, undated team figure still visible on another corporate page. The month is known; an exact measurement day is not.
What the customer actually buys
Reflex's service description separates the spacecraft platform from the payload. It designs, assembles and tests the satellite, integrates the customer's instrument and manages early commissioning. Routine mission operations then pass to the customer or an operating partner.
That division matters commercially. A company selling infrastructure information may need three distinct relationships: an instrument provider, a spacecraft manufacturer and a service operator. Choosing Reflex addresses the platform layer; it does not automatically procure an operational information service. Responsibility for data quality, recurring access and customer support must still sit somewhere in the programme.
Reflex describes its approach as adapting a reusable platform architecture to the payload. Its manufacturing page connects this approach with design work in Berlin and assembly, integration and testing in Munich. Published delivery times are commercial targets dependent on mission requirements. They should be compared with individual project records, especially where an instrument is still being developed.
A portfolio with several delivery stages
The following milestones show why a single total for “missions” would obscure more than it explains.

The mission directory identifies Media Broadcast Satellite as SIGI's partner and keeps its use case confidential. It records contract signature in May 2023, delivery in August 2024 and launch the following January. That chronology provides a concrete manufacturing example without revealing the customer programme's undisclosed purpose.
For comparison, MDA's repeat OneWeb antenna order illustrates a different industrial position: a component supplier participating in an established constellation supply chain. Reflex is seeking responsibility for an integrated spacecraft, with a broader coordination burden around the payload and launch.
LiveEO and Marble Imaging provide named demand
The 28 January 2026 Twinspector announcement says LiveEO selected Reflex to develop and manufacture two satellite platforms. Kampf Telescope Optics supplies the optical payload. LiveEO's intended applications include infrastructure monitoring across energy, transport and environmental markets.
The two-platform scope is the concrete manufacturing evidence. Twinspector's wider constellation ambition does not establish orders for an unspecified future fleet. Nevertheless, the relationship shows how a downstream information company can become a spacecraft customer when it wants greater control over its data supply.
MIRI follows a related model with Marble Imaging. Reflex says Marble selected it after success in the German Aerospace Center's small satellite payload competition. The published launch expectation is the fourth quarter of 2026. Marble's stated long-term ambition for 200 satellites belongs to the customer's expansion plan; it is not a 200-spacecraft Reflex contract.
Together, these programmes make the company's market position more concrete than a broad claim about serving the space economy. Its customers can be businesses whose main commercial asset is information, with spacecraft ownership supporting their service strategy.
Partnerships extend the product and geographic reach
In June 2026, Reflex and Arkadia Space announced a commercial propulsion agreement. Arkadia will supply a complete system for an upcoming Reflex mission, with launch expected as early as the second quarter of 2027. The agreement makes Reflex a customer of a specialist subsystem supplier as well as a manufacturer for its own customers.
Arkadia's earlier demonstration involved D-Orbit, whose company profile explains another part of the space services market. That heritage belongs to Arkadia's previous programme; it does not establish a direct Reflex–D-Orbit contract.
The Rafael partnership announced in June 2026 combines Rafael's payload role with Reflex's spacecraft platform. The companies describe co-funding and co-development, with a first launch scheduled as early as the fourth quarter of 2027. The commercial distinction is between developing a combined offering and reporting a named end-customer purchase. The release supports the former.
The Sidus memorandum, dated 9 April 2025 within the release, proposes a US joint venture. Sidus would contribute facilities, mission management and other capabilities. The document establishes a framework, not evidence that a new subsidiary was subsequently incorporated or won government work.
What suppliers and prospective customers can assess
Reflex publishes a supplier route covering components, engineering and integration support. Its FAQ describes prequalification followed by quotation requests and project-specific assessment. This is a manufacturing supply chain with an identified entry process, although inclusion in that process does not indicate an available order.
The manufacturing model also leaves room for different levels of customer control. A payload owner may retain operations in-house, while another buyer may rely on a third party after commissioning. The business implications differ: the first needs its own operating organisation; the second needs continuing contractual access to that service. Reflex's explicit handover boundary makes this a useful distinction when comparing proposals that appear to offer similar spacecraft but include different lifecycle responsibilities.
The strongest follow-up evidence would be delivery and commissioning updates for MIRI and Twinspector, followed by repeat manufacturing awards. Those would show whether customisation can support a continuing production business across different customers. Factory expansion would add another useful indicator if disclosed as installed and operating capacity.
The present evidence supports a manufacturer with named programmes, a launched first spacecraft and capital for expansion. Customer acceptance, recurring production volumes and annual revenue remain less visible. Those limits place greater weight on the next documented delivery than on the size of a proposed constellation.
